Some excellent commentary here on the draconian desire by certain US Intelligence organs to monitor everything on the internet. And an excellent comic here of how that would really work.
I just wish Joe and Jane Sixpack would get it through their minds that you don’t make yourself more safe against external threats by opening yourself to internal ones.
And, sure, you can say “as long as you’re not doing anything illegal, you’ve got nothing to worry about“. But is that really true? How many examples do we need to have of individual government officials abusing their powers before we realize that any power we cede to the government that can be abused, will be abused?
