Fallon out, Iran on?

Admiral William Fallon, commander of the United States Central Command, has resigned effective March 31st. [link]

His resignation comes after a recent Esquire magazine article about his disagreements with the Bush Administration over intervention in Iran. Fallon had long been known as being his own man, and was widely seen as having stood up to Bush and his Administration across an array of minor issues, but most notably in repeatedly sounding off that Iran would be a costly error for America.

He will be missed, and a grateful American public thanks him for his attempts to either stave off World War III, or at least fight it on winnable terms.
