Hey, Oh, Way to go, Ohio

I’m moving.

From the scenic Hocking Valley of Lancaster, to the more urbane part of Ohio. Specifically, Cuyahoga Falls, which is sort of smack-dab between Cleveland and Akron.

I’m making this move in order to fulfill both my desire to be away from Lancaster, as well as to continue my relationship with my girlfriend, who was sorta/kinda forced to move.

I’d been wanting to leave Lancaster for a long time; this was a prime opportunity. I have too many entanglements here; too many people who have too often taken advantage of my generally kind-hearted, forgiving nature, more than once to my great personal peril.

Against that, I must balance the great friends I leave behind, people who would give me the shirts off their backs if they had to. Friends whom I have greatly enjoyed involving in my personal technology addictions, and whom it has been my great pleasure to see attain talents that will serve them well throughout their lives.

On the whole, I’m really looking forward to being anonymous again, and in a small-ish city, one with all the amenities of a large city but little of the negative aspects. Most importantly, I’ll have no one to answer to but myself (and Kristen!) and no one to blame for any failures but myself, period.

It’s kinda scary to move this far away from home with so little premeditation, and virtually no safety net. But it’s also exciting, and it offers a lot of new challenges. I’m 28 years old. As Morgan Freeman’s character in The Shawshank Redemption so aptly put it, “It’s time to get busy livin’, or get busy dyin’.”

Enjoyed that — gotta go for it! New starts always give opportunity for a few changes and lots of fun. Good luck to you and Kristen!
