Webhost Review: LunarPages
By Brandon Dawson on Jul 13, 2007 in Internet
I’ve had to use LunarPages for work on a client site, and I must say, they’re just not up-to-snuff.
They’re clearly overselling bandwidth: One need look no further than their absurd storage and bandwidth “allowances” to see that they’re advertising a sizable percentage of total bandwidth available on the entire planet.
More than that, I’ve been getting cut off from one of their shared-hosting servers all day long. I’ve come across multiple “Lunarpages Sucks” type sites, and it basically looks like their servers and/or backbone have been browning-out all day long.
Of course, they don’t allow users to get to the server console via SSH and get a look for themselves as to how over-taxed their server is. Which is a major red-flag, in my view.
So, note to those who would be enticed by unrealistically high storage and bandwidth promises. It’s probably a lot of hot air.
I know at my website hosting business, I strive to maintain the highest standards and levels of accessibility in regards to my clients’ sites. It’s a shame that there are always hosting businesses quick to overpromise and underdeliver. It hurts the rest of us.
