Is Saddam’s execution a turning point for journalism?

Of course, by now everyone that leaves their house, or has a television, knows that Saddam Hussein was executed today. If you don’t believe me, there’s plenty of video out there. (Link is NSFW, Graphic Content)
Here’s my question: Is this the point where the mob-rule aspect of the Internet comes to dominate traditional journalism? The major networks were hesitant to broadcast the footage, citing concerns of whether the footage added substantial value to their coverage.
But it seems to be what people want to see. Should the networks remain beacons of decorum? Or should they bow to the pressure of YouTube, and post such video in hopes of remaining relevant in the digital age?
